One the membrane must bridge the crack, secondly the membrane must be able to withstand water pressure against the membrane, this is where strength comes in.  WHAT DO YOU GET WHEN A POLYESTER FIBER EMBEDS INTO A TOUGH WATERPROOFING MEMBRANE?  You Get a Waterproofing Membrane that is 676% stronger.

When polyester fibers combine with a wet membrane , the two together produce a much stronger membrane.
