All walls and footers are cleaned of foreign materials, laitance, and dirt to ensure proper bonding of the membrane to the foundation surfaces. Any residual form oils or release agents are cleaned from the surface. No free water or ice should be present on wall.
All voids, tie holes, and imperfections are spot treated or filled with mastic cement, hydraulic cement, or urethane sealant. Any wall penetrations are also treated at this time. This prepares the wall for waterproofing membrane installation and ensures no water penetration occurs through control joints, wall ties, voids, or irregular honeycombed concrete surfaces.
